2nd Annual Amazing Skies STARS Party Event

It is time for the 2nd Annual Amazing Skies STARS Party at IMAS. Reach for the Stars on Saturday, April 11, 2009 from2 p.m. - 10 p.m.There will be exhibits, hands-on activities , Rocket Launches, Telescopes, Meet an Astronaut Scientist; Col. John Blaha (Retired NASA  Astronaut.), S.T.A.R.S. viewing and more! The indoor exhibits will close at 8 p.m. for the night sky viewing outside.

And, attention educators! There will also be an Amazing Skies Water Rocket Contest: Make your “Water Rocket”! Design and launch your water rocket to compete for prizes and classroom grants! See contest rules for guidelines and prize information.

Still Life Workshop - Oil Painting Class with Berry Fritz

There is still room for a two and a half day workshop for beginner and intermediate oil painters with award-winning area artist, Berry Fritz. The workshop will begin on Friday, March 20th and continue on Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd. The workshop times will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with an hour break for lunch and concludes on Sunday, March 22nd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Artwork: “Sonata for Violin and Flute.” - Berry Fritz

This basic oil painting class for beginning and intermediate level painters will maximize practice in drawing, mixing colors, and applying paint. The workshop include will hand-outs, set up demonstration, step-by-step painting demonstration, individual attention, and a final critique.

The cost of the class is $175 for non-members of IMAS and $150 for members. The camp is for adults and high school students over the age of 16 and is limited to 14 students no fewer than 8. Supply list is available at the museum. Must register by March 13, 2009.

Spring Break Grossology Camp at IMAS

Don’t forget to join us for our first Grossology Camp at IMAS, during Spring Break from Tuesday, March 17th to Friday, March 20th. Each afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., students will experiment, learn, discover and create things that are, well… GROSS! Using the “Grossology” Exhibit* now on display in the Discovery Pavilion through April 26th) as inspiration, campers will explore the disgusting and impolite moments of humans, animals, nature, and chemistry.The cost of the 4-day camp will be $45 for the members of IMAS and $55 for non-members. The camp is desgined for children, ages 8-12 and is limited to 25 participants.
