"Out of Style: Geometric Abstraction from the 1970's"

In 1915, the Russian born artist Kasimir Malevich created his seminal Suprematist work Black on White and published his manifesto entitled “From Cubism to Suprematism.”  The following year he proceeded to the inevitable logical extension with the creation of his painting White on White, featuring a plain white square on a white canvas, after which the world of art was never to be the same again.

"Sculptures" by Jóhann Eyfells

The son of an Icelandic landscape painter, Jóhann Eyfells, was born in Reykjavik in 1923.  After earning degrees in architecture and fine art, Eyfells pursued an illustrious career as a sculptor and art instructor, teaching at the University of Central Florida for over 30 years.  His work took top prize in the First National Sculpture Invitational Exhibition at the DeLand Museum in 1992 and has been exhibited worldwide in both private and public collections. 

Several of Jóhann Eyfells' artworks were chosen to represent Iceland's aesthetic entries at the 1993 Venice Biennale.  The artist's sculptures were featured in the United Nations exhibition “World Artists of the Millennium.”  Eyfells' sculptures have also attracted attention at other international exhibitions in Milano, Italy, and in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.  Read more: "Sculptures" by Jóhann Eyfells

Men of Time is inspired by Paleolithic cave paintings found around the world, especially in Lascaux, France and the Santa Cruz province in Argentina.  Ines de Leon took note of the shared common threads and stylistic forms found amongst most paintings of this kind.
