Men of Time by Ines de Leon
Thursday, September 22, 2011 through Sunday, January 29, 2012

Saltillo artist Ines de Leon will be displaying Los Hombres del Tiempo/Men of Time at the International Museum of Art & Science beginning Thursday, September 22, 2011.

Men of Time is inspired by Paleolithic cave paintings found around the world, especially in Lascaux, France and the Santa Cruz province in Argentina. De Leon took note of the shared common threads and stylistic forms found amongst most paintings of this kind. Trees of life, male hunters and exalted hands in praise and thanks fill these caves with mystery, but to de Leon, they infused her with awe. It was clear to her that Paleolithic peoples were looking for or were indeed connected to a higher being.

In Men of Time de Leon pays homage to the very first artists who have inspired her throughout her artistic career. It is a reflection of her origins, her present and her future.

Ines de Leon studied at the Ruben Herrera Academy of Fine Arts at the Autonomous University of Coahuila and the Cultural Institute in Munich, Germany. Her work has been exhibited at the Contemporary Art Museum and World Trade Center in Mexico City, the Pinacoteca Center for the Arts in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, AnArte Gallery in San Antonio and throughout Mexico and the United States.

Men of Time will be displayed from September 22, 2011 to January 29, 2012. An opening reception will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Entrance to the reception is FREE for IMAS Members and is included in the price of General Admission. General Admission for non-members: $7 Adults, $5 Seniors/Students w/ID, $4 Children (ages 4-12).
