![]() A Celebration of Life: Carl Mohner Carl Mohner was born in Austria, in 1921, and lived in various countries in Europe until his move to the Rio Grande Valley in 1978. He began painting professionally in the early 1960s exhibiting his artwork in Italy, Austria, and Germany. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1988, his career as a painter intensified during the 1990s. Mohner received awards for his spirited artwork at major Art Festivals throughout the United States during the 1990s and into the early part of this decade. He was an international film star; the 1950s and 1960s were his most active time as an actor in European film. He played 60 leading film roles in England, France, Germany, Yugoslavia, Italy and Spain. Carl Mohner passed away January 2005 in McAllen, Texas. This exhibit will contain a collection of paintings and works on paper, as well as copies of film and images from Mr. Mohner’s time on stage and the big screen.
