Anies Druenne - Silent Eyewitness

The use of serene shades and sheer application make this collection of paintings a must see, as Anies strives to capture the true essence of space in time.

Anies states, “Even more than having the pleasure of making images appear on the surface, I paint in order to contemplate a world that is pleasant not just for me, but for those whom I invite to share it.”

“In countries where I have traveled to, the eccentricity of the space and of the people have always provoked me to question myself; and to respond to my wish in expressing myself with figures and colors, I have the profound desire to inscribe my pictorial search in the heart of that one emotion and to conserve the images which at times seem momentary.”

Born in Belgium, Anies studied Tourism and Fine & Applied Arts before moving to Mexico in 1987 where she currently resides in the city of Victoria, Tamaulipas. As an active member of her community, Anies offers seminars on art expression, creativity, art history and drawing of the human form. Anies is also the founder of the civil association “Centro Interactivo Huitzilin”, which offers classes about Environmental Education, Artist Education, and Human Development in Victoria. In addition to that she offers water color classes for seniors in the community and sculpture classes for the Handicapped and the Blind.

Anies artistic resume includes six individual exhibitions and involvement in collective exhibitions on the local, national and international stage, with paintings in Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, the United States and Mexico.

The International Museum of Art & Science acknowledges the Mexican Consulate in McAllen for their abundant support toward increasing awareness of the work of Mexican Artists.

The opening reception for Silent Eyewitness will be on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 6pm - 8pm and is FREE for IMAS members, and general admission for non-members.
